The Chelsea Piers skate park grand opening!

On May 17Th 2010, the official grand opening of the pier 62 skate park located at Chelsea piers kicked off with an early morning reception. The political parties involved in making this pier project a reality, publicly spoke to the people of New York, the media and the skaters about the development, progress and success of the new pier. The reception was followed by a classic ribbon cutting that welcomed all of the skateboarders to an open "skate-session" in the new park pioneered by Andy Kessler (r.i.p) and built by California skate parks. Thanks to the Hudson River Park Trust, Open Roads of New York and the NYC skateboarding community for making this historic event possible.
